Pleasant Street Community Garden
History
The Pleasant Street Community Garden was created in 1987 by a group of neighborhood residents with support of the Civic Garden Center’s Community Gardens Program. The garden is located at 1412-1418 Pleasant Street on four parcels of land owned by the City of Cincinnati. The garden provides growing space for up to five families as well as common areas for fruit and berry production, including a cherry tree and grape arbor. There is also a covered arbor and sitting area for gardeners and their families, as well as flower beds.
The Pleasant Street Community Garden participants are primarily neighborhood residents who have successfully gardened and maintained the garden site since its inception. In addition the garden has been supported of many volunteers from a variety of sources, including: The Civic Garden Center, Over-the-Rhine Community Housing, the Drop Inn Center, Hamilton County Probation Department, and others.
